There is no hard and fast rule for the vidhi, some fast the whole day while some fast till they complete the puja vidhi, while some restrict eating onions/garlic, atleast restrict to not eating it on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
The most important points to be noted is to keep away from Lord Hanumanji during Mensturation, No copulation for the number of days of puja, No non-veg for these 48 days, No using mattress. During menstruation cycle, the process to be followed by any other family member.

When a women take up this puja she is bound to keep away from the vidhi for 4 to 5 days depending upon each body metabolism. Under such circumstances, a representative should continue with the puja vidhi. It is also advised to add the number of days missed to 48 days and continue with the puja (irrespective of someone performing the puja for you on ‘those’ days)

Start this puja either on a tuesday or saturday. Every tuesday make a garland of 11 betel leaves and adorn the photo with it.

    Ritual to be followed:

You should reach the tip of the tail on the last day of the Puja.

Asadhya sadhaka swamin, Asadhyam tava kim vada
Rama dhoota daya sindho, madh karyam sadhaya prabho

Show 3 rounds of camphor, and light 2 aggarbattis to please the lord.

Fold your hands and ask for your hearts desire and surely at the end of the stipulated time, you will be rewarded with your hearts desire.

Reciting the Hanuman Chalisa will doubly benefit you.

On the 48th day you should make Vada Mala (Garland of 48 vadas) and offer it to Lord Hanumanji.

For the purpose of this pooja, The photo should be such that Hanumanji’s long tail with a small bell tied in the end. You can take a printout of the photo shown above in a photo studio on Kodak paper and frame it and start your worship. For people who are find it difficult to count the nos of days(48), it is advisable that you take small red sticker bindis (the one that women apply on their forehead. ) from the market and stick 48 bindis on the tail and each day apply the sindoor on one bindi each. It is simple really, one only needs the shraddha(devotion) and Hanumanji is the epitome of Devotion. any ways you call out the name of Rama, he will protect you.

Usually, Hanuman's tail is hidden behind him. But here, the devotees can have a full view of it. It is said that the nine planets reside in Hanuman’s tail and so paying obeisance to the tail rids one of the malefic effects of the navagrahas.
