Soundarya Lahari Sloka, Yantra & Goddess To Obtain Devi's Grace - 51
The Soundarya Lahari is not only a poem. It is a tantra textbook, giving instructions on puja and offerings, many yantras, almost one to each shloka; describes tantric ways of performing devotion connected to each specific shloka; and details the results ensuing.

Soundarya Lahari, meaning waves of beauty consists of two parts, Ananda Lahari meaning waves of happiness (first 41 stanzas) and Soundarya Lahari(the next 59 stanzas). It is believed that Lord Ganesha himself has etched the Ananda Lahari on Mount Meru.

These 100 stanzas are supposed to be the foremost among Manthra literature. It is also believed that by Making suitable Yanthras and reciting particular stanzas and worshipping the yantras almost anything can be obtained in the world.

Soundarya Lahari Sloka, Yantra & Goddess To Obtain Devi's Grace - 51
Literal Meaning : O Mother! The expression of Thy look at Shiva is characterised by the sentiment of love; at others with that of dislike, at the co-wife Ganga with that of anger; at the hearing of heroic exploits of Shiva, with that of wonder; at the great serpents forming the ornament of Shiva, with that of dread; at the sight of Thy comrades, with that of light-hearted sympathy characterised by a patronising smile; and at me, a devotee, with that of a compassionate expression. And, besides Thy look that has the red-tinged loveliness of a lotus flower, indicating heroism.

Mode of Worship : Yantra to be made on thick sandal paste kept in silver plate or on gold sheet. Sit facing East. Chant this sloka 1008 (1000) times daily for 32 (45) days.

Goddess of this Slokha : Shri Varuni Devi

Archana : Chant Lalitha Thrishathi offering vermillion.

Offerings: Cooked rice, black-gram cakes, boiled milk and honey.

Beneficial Results : Enticing people, obtaining Devi's grace and achieving high influence. Approval and respect of public and blessings of devi are the merits.

Literal Results : The rasas involved in this sloka (fear, disgust, dislike, anger, love, heroism, compassion and wonder) are one less than the navarasas; full of potency to rejuvenate the life of the devotee. A dull, listless life is changed by remarkably eventful life style and high energy levels.
