  • To get rid of atharvana dosha and releive yourselves from witchcraft (pilli-sunya ; mata-mantra):

The children between two and three years old are normally initiated into the characters of the syllabic script. The ceremony is the child’s first steps into the world of learning. The word Aksharabhyasam means introduction to the wonderful world of letters. The word Vidyarambham means the initiation to the world of learning. The initiation in to the world of learning and it begins with the writing of the mantra “Om hari Sri Ganapataye namah” and it refers to the Lord, Sri and to prosperity.

    The mantra is initially written on sand or in a tray of rice grains. The master writes the mantra on the child’s tongue with gold. The writing on sand denotes practice and on grains denotes the acquisition of knowledge and it leads to prosperity. The writing on the tongue with gold invokes the grace of the Goddess of Learning and through which one can attain the wealth of true knowledge. This practise is now a day’s followed by people across all castes and religions. Usually this is performed on the Vijayadashmi day.

    Visit Sringeri Sharada Temple to perform Aksharabhyasa pooja. This should be done on the day of Moola Nakshatra, hence you should visit this place a day ahead and sleep over there itself. Next day i.e on Moola Nakshatra offer your first pooja to Goddess Sharada for Vidyarambham.
